NMT wants to create more value for their business and customers by implementing low-code

NMT's Results

About NMT

The trade association Netherlands Maritime Technology (NMT) connects, represents, and enhances the maritime engineering of the Netherlands. The interests of its members are best served from a strong and strategic sector. Therefore, NMT strives for long-term policy for the maritime industry and a level playing field in Brussels, The Hague, and regionally.

NMT is active in three different sectors. First, "innovation"; representing shipbuilders and suppliers concerning legislation and regulations. The second branch is "trade"; NMT is regularly present at conventions or participates in trade missions. The third branch is "Human Capital"; offering training and support for new growth in the maritime industry.

Challenge

A challenging factor for structured processes and a complete system is that NMT does not offer a fixed product to its customers. The value lies in connecting people, something you would rather not see in a fixed pattern, while NMT operates with an old CRM system that offers little flexibility. Another challenge is the fragmentation of information. There are many Word and Excel files stored in different locations without an overview. Moreover, various applications are not yet integrated. In short, there was a need for more overview and unity.

Solution

Different applications (with specific functions) function well separately, and they wanted to keep these applications; there was no good reason to arrange this differently. The solution for this is the use of low-code (Bizagi) between the applications to make them work optimally together (Best of Breed structure). This involves applications for CRM, member processes, projects, leads, member visits, and industry files.

Is this everything? No, development is still ongoing in the background. A SmartLayer portal is being built for use by the members. This gives the members insight into the CRM system, the business directory is integrated, and people can register for projects.

Result

Results have been achieved in various areas. An important result, of course, is that costs have been reduced. The system has become more current and accurate. Registration can now be done via the website (instead of via email), which works better for both parties. Various processes have been automated, and core systems are now interconnected. Finally, there is 100% insight into contributions, time spent, and the total number of members.

It is important to emphasize that there is now significant added value for members by removing inefficiencies in the processes, so that contributions can be 100% devoted to delivering value for the members instead of to administrative tasks. Members will be more involved in the future by giving them access to the portal. In summary, various results have been achieved that benefit both NMT and its customers.
